Beyond the Chapel: A Unique Photoshoot Space in Miami
When we created Little Rose Chapel, we were thinking about weddings, of course. But we were also thinking about the kind of space we wanted to spend time in ourselves: somewhere romantic, visually interesting, a little nostalgic and filled with details that reward you for looking around. As the space came together, it became clear that those qualities weren't limited to wedding days. A room with character naturally invites other kinds of creativity, too. That's how we started thinking about Little Rose Chapel as something more than just a wedding chapel.
A Different Kind of Photoshoot Space. There is nothing wrong with the modern photography studio but we are also living through a moment when so many spaces are looking remarkably similar. Sometimes that simplicity is exactly what a photographer needs. Other times, you want the location to contribute more to the photograph - the feeling. One of the things we love most about the chapel as a photography location is that you can move through the space and create something that feels visually varied without having to pack up and drive somewhere else. The ceremony room has high, white ceilings and natural light, including light coming through the skylight windows. It can feel bright, classic and editorial but also moody and romantic depending on how it is photographed.
The Sweethearts Vanity Suite upstairs has a completely different feeling. With its mirrors, fringe detailing, vintage furnishings, various seating and ambient lighting, it lends itself to more intimate portraits, getting-ready photographs, lifestyle imagery and editorial work. There is also the red velvet powder room, along with the smaller details throughout the chapel that can become their own little sets. That variety is particularly useful when you're renting a space by the hour. Instead of spending part of the session trying to make one room look like three different locations, you can simply explore the space and let each area give you something different. A single rental can produce a collection of photographs that don't all feel like they were taken against the same backdrop.
The Best of Both Worlds. We wanted the space to feel designed and intentional without becoming so specific that there was only one way to use it. It can be romantic without looking traditionally bridal. It can feel vintage without becoming a themed set. It can be moody in one photograph and bright in another. And because the space already contains so many different visual elements, you don't necessarily need an elaborate production to make the photographs feel considered and even a bit cinematic.
